dot 1944 3083 aw

Late dot 1944 from the last double alpha suffix, aw. Note serial numbering error on the barrel, with the omission of the letter “a” from the suffix. The bolt is numbered properly with the full suffix. This rifle lacks a cleaning rod provision (stock is not drilled, but bayonet mount has the hole) and is the first transition to Kriegsmodell. Stock is “dot” marked on the keel with Eagle H on right side. Bands, floor plate, and all bolt components are serial numbed to match, stock is serial numbered inside using metal stamps. Some very late aw block rifles will have pencil serial numbered hand guards and/or unnumbered hand guard. Unnumbered stocks show up in the first no letter block rifles.
